weasley update

Awhile back, I had posted where to find copies of the Weasley sweater pattern.  (Unbelivably one of my LYSs carried it, but no, they no longer have any copies--I checked).  I had received an email from Tina who thanked me for posting the info as she was able to finally get her hands on one or two (ha!).  Well, she checked in last week and sent me this photo (which she gave me the okay to post) of her finished sweater:

Doesn't she look darling?  She even mentioned running into Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer) who loved her outfit too...

Oh, one other thing...if you're utterly and completely desperate...as in your-world-will-implode-if-you-do-not-find-the-pattern, Tina has an extra one that she'd be willing to part with.  Really though, after seeing the pattern and having knitted two myself...I can say you really don't need one.  It's a straightforward pattern with straight sleeves and a roll-neck.  There are tons of generic patterns like that out there that will get you through.  Try this one (sans cables and do a ribbing on the sleeve ends)...it looks just like the Weasley pattern...

So lots of fun things have arrived...a digital camera woohoo!!  The only bummer part was that I thought that I could use the memory card from my old, sad camera.  It turned out it needed a different type of memory...it needs SD instead of CF!  Ah well, circuitcity had a huge sale and I got a 1GB SD card for $59.99.  Killer price!

It couldn't have been better timing b/c when I looked outside after dinner, I saw this...

and the rain came down...

From my new favorite online store: The Knitting Zone!  I had really wanted to try Lorna's Laces in Shepherd Sport, but wasn't able to find it locally any place!  (Oh, BTW, Acorn Street does carry it in worsted weight besides the regular tiny gauged yarn if you're looking for that.  I had NO idea until I tripped over a basket of it on the floor.  Yes, I'm so dainty.  NOT.)  I had heard the Knitting Zone was having a sale, so I stopped by to see what they had...and lo and behold...there was the Shepherd Sport I'd been wanting to try!  I swear, I ordered it on Friday and um, I got it on Monday!!  How can that be?!  Does Mary have special yarn elves that speed yarn lots out across the states to us knitaholics?? 

What else...Ohhhh...Last Saturday a friend and I hit the LYS's.  We stopped by a yarn store downtown that had to be one of the prettiest I've seen called So Much Yarn.  I'm so happy I finally got to go!  Of all days to not have a camera...but I'm going back this next weekend (ha!) for a magic loop class so I will take pictures of the interior.  It has to be one of the more visually stimulating stores I've seen in a long while.  You'll see what I mean soon.

For Weasley news, Tina emailed me to let me know she's completed the back and is working on the front!  I can't wait to see the finished product.  I'm still so thrilled that she was able to find the pattern at my LYS!!  (and yes, they still have FOUR left)  ^_~

What a great day.  I went to breakfast with Shug D, we walked about the Bellevue park in the gorgeous weather, went to Belsquare and drove home while blasting Lady Marmalade with the windows down on 520.  (and yes, both of us were singing at the top of our lungs!)

Shortly afterwards I went to Hilltop Yarn with a friend from my old team, to get my yarn for the nothin'-but-a knitalong!  Look!  I'm all ready to knit!

Have I told you how much I adore Hilltop?  No?  Hover over the link on the LH pane and you will see.  They have an entire room in their converted house, devoted to Rowan yarns and pattern books.  OH, that reminds me.  I looked and they did have about 7 copies zero copies (as of 6/20/05 sorry!) left of the Weasley sweater pattern in case you think you've left no stone unturned and are still empty handed.  If you would like a copy, I can try to pick one up for you, let me know.

This trip to the LYS was especially nice b/c I was able to get this yarn "free."  I used my voucher that I had received from previous purchases!  If you think that's all I went home with, you really don't know me, do you?  ^_~  I'll leave the details for future posts...I got some fun stuff!

I'm almost done with the Oral Surgeon socks and am brainstorming on some custom knitting for MF.  I'll explain more about this later too :) ... until then, happy knitting!!

It's Tuesday already?

Tuesday is Weasley knitalong day, so it's finally time to post the Weasley pictures!

Yes, see the little one below?  Livvy?  I finished her sweater in 3 days and my self-induced, crippling arthritis immediately got worse when she said, "Where's the O?" (her name is Olivia) upon receiving it. 

(note to self:  these kids have super long torsos so knit them extra-long sweaters)

Val, being the quick thinker that she is said, "H stands for Hermione!"  She seemed okay with that.  These sweaters really were fun to knit and I'm glad that I participated in the knitalong!  I also know now, to add at least 2" to the torso section when knitting something for these two...look how short they look! 

Oh, and it more than made up for it when my nephew wore his for 2 days straight after xmas!  He also took it to school on Monday for show-and-tell day.  Now, what to knit for them next?
