Yes! It's done...!! Drumroll please...
little uterus, big ovaryI had my post-op appt on Wednesday so I made sure that the uterus was in my purse. I knit it over at a friend's house while watching the superbowl. Who would have thought a year ago when I first saw the project and wanted to knit it then, that I'd actually have a reason to knit it now. I changed the pattern somewhat b/c well, most people don't have the luxury of seeing what their actual uterus looks like. I have. It wasn't smooth, mine is lumpy looking on the outside b/c of the fibroids inside. I actually made little fibroids inside of it, so if my doc felt it, she could feel where mine are. I didn't stuff it until full, b/c that's not how they really are. The original pattern doesn't call for ovaries, but b/c I had a surgery in June last year to address one that was 3.5cm in diameter due to a mass inside of it (and thus made my right ovary 6.5cm big!), I had to add them.
Now had I really been thinking, I would have put one of those squeaker toys in the larger ovary! hahaha, man that would have been SO great!! hindsight...darn.
I'm not sure what was better...that she hugged it immediately upon getting it, or that she ran around her office showing everyone and telling the story. She told her nurses, "...this is when you know you're really loved..." She also said that her daughter is going to want it, but she's not getting it, that this is to keep for herself. yay.
