I found myself on the top of Queen Anne today seeing a friend's new condo...so I figured that I would go by Hilltop Yarn to see how it was doing...was it open?  The site says no, but the phone recording didn't say it was closed, waaah, Ricky.  They've sold the slightly damaged yarn in the fire that happened earlier this year...(boy that must've been awful and scary!  yikes.)  And I know that it will fully return itself to overabundant glory...but I was sad and a bit surprised to see the shelves still so empty :(.

I saw my ob-gyn last week and I realized that I never made the scarf that I meant to in addition to the uterus that I made...yes...I uh, have quite a history with my ob-gyn.  Two surgeries and repeated appts will do that, ya know?

Hilltop, despite the low leveled shelves had exactly what I was looking for:

This...is giving me a headache.  That and I keep dreaming about work. THAT. Needs to stop.

another felting project!

Yesterday I went by Z's house to help her with some blogging basics...yes! She is starting a blog and I am very excited about this. She really needs to start her Noro project and post pictures and lovely jubbly details about it all...but look what she had for me, fresh from the Madrona fair for coming over!!

I'm interested in trying lightweight!

When I saw this in her post, I didn't think "...one of these things...doesn't belong" b/c it looked red...not HOT PINK! yes, I love pink.

Check out her blog...she was one of the lucky that got into Jean Wong's class...I SO wish that I had gotten in...sigh.  Though looking at the charting done, what was I saying about headache?

This too, was at Z's house waiting for me.  The infamous pecan bar from Portland.  I just love that she labeled it with my name, so there was NO mistaking that it wasn't up for grabs in her house.  I didn't want to get too excited when she told me that she brought me one back...in case that someone ate it before I could get over...I should have KNOWN better.  hahahahaha.  She has tried 3 different attempts to recreate it.  I hope she keeps trying...

I'm so tired today.  Napped for a couple of hours when I got home from work.  <yawn.>

I wondered about what to blog about today...and then I looked over, and got my inspiration.

Sometimes I wonder how people store their yarn.  This is, by no means, the bulk of my stash, but it is some of it and there it is...out in plain sight.

what sits on top of your bookcase?

Yup. In the larger box houses 12 skein of the most lovely, Karabella soft brown tweed yarn. In the Tiffany's box atop houses a bunch of (what else) my very special cracksilk haze.  And so on and so on, and yes, actually IN sight is some STR just waiting to be knit into socks.  (I have 2 more of those glass containers that I just haven't put up there yet.)

This by no means is my entire knitting library, but it has some of the things that I like to look at most.

yup.  I'm still here and so is my hip.

I took the month of December off from work to have yet another surgery.  woohoo.  NOT.  I had 3 things done:

1. fixed the tear in the acetabular labrum (cartilage that holds the ball in the socket)
2. reshaped the femoral head and removed a bone spur (read:  OW)
3. had the femur decreased in diameter that was causing impingement (read:  triple OW!)

So friends, this is where I've been.  The month of November leading up to this was full of stress and tasks and errands and preparation for said surgery on 5 December.

Percocet taken: more than 70

Weeks not being able to put any weight on my right leg: FOUR

Disappointment from being too out of it to knit:  TOO HUGE TO MEASURE

Seriously.  I had NO idea how difficult this surgery was going to be.  I should have known when I saw my initial Rx of percocet was 50.  FIFTY!!  I had to rely on friends to take me to doctor appts and bring me groceries and magazines.  Recovery was a beeatch and when you don't feel good, you just cannot be creative.  This was incredibly frustrating to me...here with all of the sofa time and not being able to knit.  Actually I developed bad trigger finger on BOTH hands from the crutches so I couldn't knit even if my head was clear enough.  I was a sad, mess.  I'm better now, hardly limping, still have unexpected random bouts of pain, but I'm finally feeling good enough to get out.  Here's what I was up to today.

Look what I came home with...yay!  Good ol' WeavingWorks and AcornStreet...

ahhh, it feels good to be back among the living again...

p.s.  is it buy 3 surgeries, get one free?  if yes, then I'm due.
