updates

Okay, try 2 after the unsuccessful update try last night.  Sooo, where do I start?

I started one of the Jess Hutch bears at my brother's house over Easter. Somehow I have miraculously gotten my niece and nephew to be okay with me knitting when I'm around them...in fact it went something like this:

   me:  Hey MPC, would you wear a knit hat with something cool on it?

   mpc:  YES!!!  Can you start now?

   me:  well, no, but I can start as soon as I get the yarn!

   beebs:  Is that there (the bear body) for me? 
      (it wasn't, b/c who knew she'd want one!)

   me:   um...did you want one?

    beebs:  YES. KEEP knitting!  HURRY UP!

Even if I took a break to get a sip of water she'd tell me KEEP KNITTING!!!  Ahhh, yay! 

In the meantime, I did go to the yarn store in my neighborhood that is selling off all of the items due to retirement...and I started on my nephew's hat!

can you tell yet what this will be?

Ooooh, I sure hope it fits his head!  So I read an article about intarsia and knitting in the round on Knitty, curious...I am knitting this by stranding inside the hat...we'll see how it works.  I suppose I can always redo it if needed (read, if stranding has made the hat too tight), right?

Oh yes, and I need to order the zipper for the Simple.  Man, and I need to order the safety eyes...so much to do, so little time...I need to pack my bag for workout tomorrow and it's already past my bedtime.  argh.

progress!

I've made some amazing progress on the simple sweater...last night it was blocking even though I couldn't find my box of clover blocking pins...

towels for knitting projects!  ha.

I had bought some dishtowels a lonnnnnng time ago that worked out perfectly for just this task!! My new iron rocked as well...talk about steaming action!!

Now it sits until it is dry...

This should make seaming a whole lot easier!

Even though the shoulders and neck aren't bound off yet, what helped was to have extra circs to hold the stitches and to provide something to pin against!

Interestingly when I frogged the back and started over, I got MUCH further up the back with one ball of yarn than I previously did.  wow.  I was able to get thru the 2nd set of increases...see what cinching up the purl can do?

For the increases, I'm using a M1L on the RH side, and a M1R for the LH side.  These provide such nice, neat and invisible increases!!

or am I doing the increases on the wrong sides?

Z?  What kind of increases do you do?

Hmmm, so sure it's been awhile since I've been knitting...my knit looks pretty good if I do say so myself, but little things like, "hey...on the purl, cinch it up a bit so it doesn't look sloppy girl!" eluded me.  Case in point...the k1, p1 looks awful...ugh.

can you say "do-over?!"

I swear I wasn't drunk when knitting!  But well, do muscle relaxants count?  Just to test...I cast on for the left front a few minutes ago...the k1, p1 looks so much better and neater, I frogged the back already and am starting, continental once again (which isn't my natural way of knitting).
