oh no socks again?

Yes,  I'm sorry, I can't seem to stop with the socks.  But remember that my nephew asked for red, white and blue ones!  I still can't figure out why red, white and blue, but here they are regardless...

I was at the yarn store on Saturday...and I saw a nifty pattern for a sock, and I tried it with the koigu, but it didn't work.  Koigu is so patterned colorwise that you just don't see textured patterns very well.  Frog away on that one.  I started over and above is what I came out with.

I'll stop with the socks at least for awhile...I promise.

The progress on the Dale sweater is moving along...trying to carry across 3 colors has been slightly nightmarish, since I've had to stop every few carries to blow my nose and wash my hands, but I'm plugging along.  I would have posted a picture, but I need a few more rows of the pattern to do so easily.  It's curling right now and I can't seem to get a picture of it by holding it with one hand and taking a picture with the other.  I'm going to say it one more time, I need a new camera.  Mine really sucks.

As promised, a posting of my new project.  My yarn is here, my pattern's here, I'm off and running.  And for those of you who know me, you know how I love to run with scissors.  (I bought the Dalegarn book here.  They're all about Dale of Norway and were prompt with delivery and were delightful to order from.)

This is some easy knitting yarn...albeit it will split if you aren't being careful, but it's not all that bad.  I chose the darker red yarn instead of what the pattern called for and instead of the burgundy trim, I chose chocolate brown.  Burgundy is pretty, but red is a stretch for me as it is, so I chose this:

Doesn't 7cm of ribbing seem like a lot?  Wonder if that's a Dalegarn thing...many of their sweaters I see, have a lot of ribbing.  I don't know why I'm so fascinated by fairisle these days.  Maybe b/c I haven't really tried it.  That won't be the case much longer!!  As you see, I'll be starting small.  This sweater has just a hint of it, an essence if you will.

Oh, and something else.  This sweater is knitted in the round.  I'm used to separate pieces and then seaming everything together at the end.  I debated whether or not to do that with this one, but hey, I'll try knitting it in the round, it will be something new and hopefully something good.

something for me

Why is it, that I can never leave a yarn store empty handed?  argh.  I am the marketing model's dream. 

While at Acorn Street, they didn't have enough of the Pastaza that I was looking at, but I saw they had Dalegarn Tiur on sale...ooh, it was soft and fluffy...and I just knew there was something I could make out of it...for me for once!  Here it is...

just a hint of green, see?

There is a cutie greenish version, but my goal was to make something with the yarn that I had bought and there was no green, well 1 skein of the moss green.  They had the red, they had the orange and hooray!!  The sweater has tiny windows of green and 1 skein would definitely cover that!  Wait, wasn't it my nephew who wanted the red sweater?  I guess he got me going on that mindset.  The pattern should arrive any day (ironic that the yarn was there, but I couldn't find the pattern to save my life).

On the Sockapalooza front:
I've turned the heel and am steadily knitting down the foot for the final sock!
