the eagle has landed

My friend finally got his doubleknitski!  I wonder what took so long for it to get there.  I wonder if it had to go through customs?  My yarn box from Breiweb did...

My brother and I still say that chant every now and then...and maybe one day we'll actually see Jambi appear. Until then, we will have to be satisfied with my friend Johnny's picture! The hat got there safely in a box full of foodie treats for him.  It's got to be cold in Toronto if it was an odd 27° here this AM...I hope it helps to keep him warm...as you can see, I strayed from the original pattern a bit.  I moved the stripes down and shortened the overall length.  I wanted it to fit more like a beanie.  ^_^

Oh yes, he said I was a cross between a Santa and an angel.  I'll take that!

doubleknitski

I'm currently working on the doubleknitski and it's been a nice knit.  Very relaxing in comparison to the darn harakiri scarf that's for sure!  I asked the patternmaker Alison what she does about the dreaded jog when knitting in the round when stripes are involved.  I quite liked her reply.  She just accepts it.  No finagling, nope, she uses it as a way to tell which is the back of the hat.  Though this isn't a great picture since the hat isn't laying flat, I tried to fix mine.  This was before I talked with her.

it even says "too sweet" on the t-shirt.

Later, after decreasing and trying it on, it was clear that it needed a bit more length...so yes, look what was next...

*ribbit*

As you can see, I strayed from the pattern a bit, but I'm back on track and knitting along while hoping this swollen throat goes away.  I'm glad I made it through the week.
