Hmmm, so sure it's been awhile since I've been knitting...my knit looks pretty good if I do say so myself, but little things like, "hey...on the purl, cinch it up a bit so it doesn't look sloppy girl!" eluded me. Case in point...the k1, p1 looks awful...ugh.

I swear I wasn't drunk when knitting! But well, do muscle relaxants count? Just to test...I cast on for the left front a few minutes ago...the k1, p1 looks so much better and neater, I frogged the back already and am starting, continental once again (which isn't my natural way of knitting).

Ooooooooh pretty!
If you're not used to knitting, you should start with the back, so you get lots of practice with tension. Your two front pieces will match better if they are both knit after your fingers have remembered how to control tension.
Remind us, what is the yarn and fiber content?
