the skinny

I figured it's time to post a picture...I started the skinny scarf a couple of days ago...I first CO 300sts, then realized that I needed 400!!  gah!  So I started again...but then I had wayyyy too much yarn leftover, what was I thinking?  Yes, the 3rd time's the charm...jusssssst right.

The scarf calls for 3 colors, but somehow it just didn't look right...I added the pink and it looks quite nice actually!  If it were for me, I probably wouldn't be knitting in red, but I had heard that she likes red.

Hmm, the picture is sooo bright.  I was busy today and wasn't able to take it in the natural sunlight.  It still looks pretty.  I wonder if I should add a fifth color...hmmm.

So I did end up getting both of the circulars at Hilltop East the other day and I started on my skinny scarf project...400 sts is a LOT to CO.  man.  While I don't have a picture of that, I do have a picture of something that I saw at the mall today.  My GOD.  What the...?!!

today's mission

It was amazing...yesterday after I came home from Acorn Street, I went straight to the correct box (among the wall o' boxes) and found my circulars!!  The bad news is, my US5s are on a sweater in another box...and I am not sure what project currently holds my US6s.

there are 35 circulars here, yet not what I need!

So today, when I meet Z for lunch, pecan pie and much catching up, I simply MUST get another US5 and US6 40".  Even though I have every other size/length combo in my pack...boo.

Well well well.  Here I am...back after so damn long.  Where have I been?  What have I been doing?  Too much to go into right here and now. 

The short story is I have been housebound since basically 1/10/07...ice, snow, then surgery and what is a person to do, but look at blogs and think.  The good that came from this is I made it out today for a short stint, though doing that was a little much in my current state of recovery.  The news is I finally have the hugest hankering to knit again.  SO HUGE!!   So huge in fact that I made it out of the house and went to Acorn Street to take a look.  I went with a specific gift in mind.  Here's the funny part.  I was here, laying in bed, resting, watching Knitty and they were talking about scarves.  They started talking about how EVERYone starts out knitting scarves...how it is everyone's first project and how everyone must have knit a zillion by now.  Um.  wrong.

When I started knitting, it was with a super complicated sweater.  Then the scarf that I knit next wasn't a simple one either.  That's just me I guess.

Well I wanted to knit something for my ob-gyn...thanks for the great pap!  No no, see I've gone through 2 surgeries with her now and she's really been great through everything.  So long story long, I was watching Knitty and saw a scarf that I wanted to knit!  Here are the yarns for 2 scarves coming right up...

Then of course the fun didn't end there...but then you already knew this, right?  I happened to look down...and I saw these on sale!!
